Now on Radio France some broadcasts are available as MP3 podcasts... This is good, and to make it even better I wanted to make them available on the home Linux jukebox.

To do this I found Podget, which I quickly added to the set of cron jobs, wrapped up in some scripts to log the output and so on.

Et voilà! Now I automatically get the radio show "Des papous dans la tête" on the family's MP3-playing home appliance :-)

My always-on home server is now reborn as a Raid 1 file server.  The old VIA EPIA 800 still runs on leftover SDRAM, but its PCI slot is now sporting a 3ware 7006-2 card connected to two Maxtor MaXLine III 300GB hard drives.  One is in the inner 3''1/2 tray, the other one in an Enermax UC-101 rack, which is slightly protruding.

As before, it runs Web, FTP and other servers, backups my sites, plays all our music, and now has to keep our files securely, like our growing archive of photographs.

Chez nous c'est Linux qui est connecté à la chaîne HiFi.  Il manquait juste de quoi écouter du RealAudio, format utiilisé en particulier par Radio France.
